STAY AT THE TABLE

Good Health Choices - - Health bites -

The simple habit of staying at the table for five minutes after eating is worth perfecting. It keeps the digestive system happy and, when that’s working well, the rest of the body usually is, too. In the hotspots, families gather around the table for meals and linger afterwards to chat over a glass of home-made red wine. Relaxing over a meal activates the parasympathetic nervous system, aka the ‘rest-and-digest’ state. Our digestive tracts can get on with absorbing and assimilating nutrients in peace, and those nutrients can then get to our cells.
