Next time you make a cup of tea, don’t hurry. “By leaving your tea to brew for three to five minutes and stirring the tea leaves in the pot at least twice, you maximise the healthy antioxidants,” says Dilhan C Fernando from tea makers Dilmah. He says if you leave tea still and pour within one minute, you get just 32 per cent of the antioxidants, but stir and leave it to sit and that rises to 92 per cent.
