Eyes on the prize

Good Health Choices - - Be Informed -

An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but an orange a day could protect your eyesight. Researchers at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research followed more than 2000 adults for 15 years, and found that those who ate at least one serving of oranges a day reduced their risk of developing late macular degeneration later on by 60 per cent. It’s thought that the eye-protecting effects of oranges are down to the flavonoids in the fruit, which have important antiinflammatory benefits for the immune system.
