The nature of beauty
Photographic artist Emma Bass is set to present a provocative new collection examining the nature of beauty. Bass, whose work Hydrangeas 8.50am from her Imperfect Series was selected for the Summer Exhibition at the 2016 Royal Academy in London, will reveal Embellish at Smyth Galleries in Auckland's St Marys Bay on November 9. While exploring London’s National Gallery, Bass became fascinated by the still life floral works of the Dutch masters. Look closely and you’ll notice she even hand-painted tulip petals to resemble extinct Dutch varieties.
Embellish is open to view at Smyth Galleries, 41 Jervois Rd, Auckland, from November 9-30.
