Off-grid glamour

Good - - NEWS -

Living o the grid doesn’t mean having to give up luxury, as Raglan songstress Amy West aka Parabola West has proven. West, who’s just released her EP Purity

of Weakness, has a room for both her shoes and her grand piano in her home.

She and husband David moved from Auckland to Raglan three years ago to build a completely off-the-grid eco home where they grow their own food.

“However, I refused to sacrifice the comforts of modern living and I believe we have successfully captured an off-gridglamour out here. It’s not as hard as it seems,” West says. “The glamour isn’t in the fancy decor, it’s in the little luxuries like the outdoor bathtub that is plumbed to hot water or being able to generate enough power to use all the comfort appliances, like the kettle and hairdryer. We love it, and I would love to encourage others who have felt the urge to be more self-sufficient but who don’t know where to start.”
