Jes Magill

With a background in journalism and public relations, Jes is always on the hunt for a good story. Based in Auckland, when not filing stories and working on deadline, she’s walking her Schnauzer-cross Archi and keeping fit for the next physical challenge – maybe one of New Zealand’s great walks or possibly a mountain, having recently ticked off Mt Fuji and Taranaki. Jes plans to spend this Christmas at the family bach two hours north of Auckland, hoping to stumble across that “one big idea” for a book. Read her story on social enterprises on page 34.

Sarah Tanner

Sarah started her career in advertising before owning and operating her own beauty business for eight years. She then sold the business and had daughter Stella, now aged five. Greenleaf Organics was born in October 2014 as a organic smoothie delivery business; Sarah now operates a store by the same name and self-published her first cookbook, GLO. Her favourite meals at the moment are light salads. “Anything with a Thai/Asian feel is always good with any type of raw veggie,” she says. See Sarah’s vegan food spread on page 90.

Susan Czyzo

Physiotherapist and pilates instructor Susan balances her career with writing, photography and exploring Australasia. Her love of the ocean, paired with a desire for new physical challenges, prompted her to take surf lessons. Read her story ‘Life Lessons from the Ocean’ on page 46.
