Traffic lights upgrade under way in city CBD
Work started last week to upgrade the traffic lights on the corner of Victoria and London Streets in the Hamilton CBD.
The city council says the upgrade will bring improved safety for those who use the intersection.
Additional traffic sensors and traffic light displays as well as more accessible kerbs at pedestrian crossing points will be added.
This week, work was due to start to replace the water main on the south side of London St between Victoria Street and Barton Street.
The council says the work is part of ongoing maintenance of key city assets. It will require opening sections of the footpath, and may also need work on the road.
Pedestrian redirections and road lane closures will be required from time to time. Both jobs are expected to be completed by the end of September.
