Hamilton City Council says our report in last week’s paper that a K’aute Pasifika proposal to occupy the Stadium Bowling Club site in Hamilton has been approved by the council at a community and services committee meeting is not “strictly correct” on a couple of points.

The council says in a statement: “The council has supported the proposal and directed staff to work with K’aute on the design of the hub to ensure consistency with Hamilton’s West Town Belt Masterplan, and also for K’aute to complete a range of regulatory compliance aspects.”

The council also says it is not strictly correct that the K’aute plan still needs to come back to the council.

“The community and services committee resolution notes the final proposal and lease agreement will be reported back to the committee for approval,” the statement says.
