Chill-out time for politicians
Mayor Andrew King, Labour List MP Jamie Strange, Hamilton city councillor Ryan Hamilton and National MP for Hamilton West Tim Macindoe take part in the Heart Stopper 360 challenge in Hamilton on Saturday. The elected representatives put aside any political differences and took part in the Heart Kids Heart Stopper Challenge by sitting in a 10 deg C tub of water for 360 seconds at Hot Spring Spa Pools in Te Rapa. They raised more than $1000 on the day for Heart Kids NZ. There were several other participants, including local police officers, who wore their uniforms for the dip. The local politicians chose to wear their “uniform” of suits, shirts, ties and shoes. They were one of many teams that took part in the Heart Stopper Challenge across the country. Heart Kids NZ is the only charity providing support to children with heart defects and their families throughout the ongoing challenges they face, with the charity close to reaching its $150,000 goal for 2018.
