More safety work

Work was due to start this week at the in­ter­sec­tion of Wairere Dr/ Hunt­ing­ton Dr (west) to im­prove safety with the in­stal­la­tion of a per­ma­nent lay­out to re­place the tem­po­rary lay­out which has been in place since 2016, fol­low­ing safety con­cerns sparked by in­creas­ing traf­fic. Hamil­ton City Coun­cil says the new per­ma­nent lay­out is the same as the cur­rent lay­out, and will en­able the re­moval of the or­ange hit sticks which were used to trial dif­fer­ent lay­outs. Pro­vi­sion will also be made for east­bound cy­clists to move from the road to the shared path on Wairere Dr be­fore the Hunt­ing­ton Dr (west) in­ter­sec­tion.
