Moni wins top award for YMCA
YMCA Hamilton assistant centre manager Monique (Moni) Farrant is just days away from clocking up 10 years’ service at the not-for-profit organisation.
It’s a feat that’s well worth celebrating. But for Moni and her team, the celebrations started this week when she was awarded the President’s Choice award at YMCA’S annual general meeting in Auckland.
Moni and a team from Hamilton went to the event where operatic and cultural performances took centre stage.
The president’s award was introduced three years ago to allow the chair of the board to handpick an employee or team who made a notable contribution to the organisation.
Moni’s leadership, strong values and work ethic meant she couldn’t be overlooked for this year’s award, the YMCA said.
Moni held back tears as she was presented with the trophy and certificate by outgoing YMCA board president Andrew Howard.
She is the first individual to win the award, which was previously won by the Lifeguard and Camp Adair teams.
Seven other YMCA team members took home trophies for outstanding contributions to their teams and the wider organisation.
