Responsive Trade Education offers a free 40-week Youth course, for students aged 16-19 years.

This is based on the foundation skills needed in the building industry, such as hand tools, fixed machinery, power tools, health and safety, deck construction, fencing and concreting.

On programme completion, youth gain NCEA Level 2 and achieve a National Certificate in Building, Construction and Allied Trade Skills (NCBCATS) Level 2.

They can then move to higher level education such as Maori and Pacifika Trades Training, apprenticeships, or employment.

Students also have the option to gain their driver’s licence and get fit with CrossFit.

Responsive Trade Education is a NZQA/ BCITO registered and accredited training provider.

RTE’s course develops building-industry foundation skills.
