The Auckland Council must have a playground within a 15 minutewalk from housing areas. There are 318,200 children under the age of 15 in Auckland. There is one public playground, free to use, for every 378 children under 15. If other playgrounds at schools and childhood centres are included, the figure is one playground per 128 children. Auckland’s annual budget for playground maintenance is $3.29m.
Popular playgrounds included Tui Glen Reserve, Henderson, which features three pyramid towers with stunning height and spectacular views, basket swing, eagles nest, dual flying fox and tree hut. The Parrs Park, Glen Eden, has a high tower, giant birds nest swing, sand andwater play, bespokewater pumps and dams.
