Hastings Leader - - News - BY HASTINGS BUSINESS ASSOCIATION MANAGER KELLY NOLAN

Wow — we’re just under a week away from Fringe in the ‘Stings kicking off.

If you haven’t had a chance to purchase your ticket yet then jump on to fringeinthestings.co.nz or Eventfinda.co.nz or go in to your local i-SITE!

We’ve got a cracker of a lineup so let me tell you about some of our shows…

Thursday’s line-up starts off at 7.30pm in the Common Room with Pantingo! Pantomime Bingo! Exactly what you think it is with the added hilarity of competitive games. A Quality Piece of ARS (Astarte, Reuben and Simon) is taking comedy to the people in the Commoners Green from 8pm. Winner of the NZ Fringe Touring Prize, Jon Bennett, kicks off his trilogy of shows with Pretending Things are a Cock at 9.30pm before the amazingly talented Anton Wuts (Anon Wut?) shows us what he’s made of with an evening of original work from 9.45pm at the Commoners Green.

Friday starts at 6.45pm with Julz asking, What Do I Do With This Dress? Thirty-five, divorced and riddled with baggage, Julz still has hope . . . And that damn wedding dress! At the same time over at the Commoners Green, Kozo Kaos is back with his Comedy Stunt Show. Part comedian, part magician, part circus rock star, Kozo thrilled audiences last year and we’re so excited to have him back again!

The Revolutionary Arts Ensemble perform Hieronymus Bosch at 8.30pm in the Commoners Green will be a highlight, avant-garde music and performance art. Indescribable and amazing. Don’t miss out. Jon Bennett’s second of three shows, Fire in the Meth Lab, also kicks off at 8.30pm in Common Room before David Prentice takes to the stage at 9.45pm.

Quick! Before they Deport Us! 10.15pm in Commoners Green sees five talented comedians with origins in the Indian subcontinent take the stage to tell their greatest jokes and share their best stories. And over at The Common Room The Variety Ball sees a sassy group of ladies perform everything from cabaret to bellydance; and singing to aerial acts.

And that’s just some of the first two days. Make sure you visit fringeinthestings.co.nz to see the full programme and book.
