Be a Waste Warrior

Hastings Leader - - News -

Following on from a successful Hawke’s Bay International Marathon, the Environment Centre has been engaged to manage the waste for two events in October.

The first is Waka Ama Long Distance Nationals at Napier on Friday October 5 and Saturday, October 6. The second is the Hawke’s Bay A&P show from Wednesday, October 17 to Friday, October 18.

The Environment Centre is looking for volunteer Waste Warriors to help the organisers of both events on their zero waste event journey.

Each event has different start times with a finish time of 5pm for both. Volunteers are expected to work two-hour shifts, with double shifts available. The role of a Waste Warrior is:

Assist the public to place their litter into the correct compost, recycling or landfill bin.

Keep the grounds at finish line and entertainment area clear of rubbish.

If you have a ready smile, like interacting with people and care for our environment you could be a Waste Warrior. Equipment and full training is provided so you don’t have to know much.
