Ala­nis Moris­sette sings in Whi­tianga

Ala­nis Moris­sette, the Cana­dian mu­si­cian be­hind 90s clas­sics Ironic and You Oughta Know, is com­ing to the Coro­man­del.

IThe artist was an­nounced as part of the Sum­mer Con­cert Tour, a three date re­gional mu­sic fes­ti­val planned for Jan­uary, which in­cludes a show at Whi­tianga.

Moris­sette‘s last New Zealand per­for­mance was 20 years ago and turned some­what chaotic as the pop­star put on a free con­cert in Auck­land. The Evening Post re­ported soar­ing tem­per­a­tures be­came too much for some fans, who had packed into Aotea Square for the Novem­ber show. Hoses were even­tu­ally brought in to douse the 15,000 strong crowd.

All go­ing well, the sun would also fea­ture as part of Moris­sette‘s forth­com­ing tour. She’ll also per­form in Taupo and Queen­stown.

Moris­sette would be tour­ing along­side George Thoro­good & The De­stroy­ers and for­mer Men at Work star Colin Hay.

The Sum­mer Con­cert Tour was promis­ing ‘‘all their un­mis­tak­able hits’’.

When Moris­sette was last in New Zealand, the then 24-year-old pop- star had just re­leased her fourth stu­dio al­bum, Sup­posed For­mer In­fat­u­a­tion Junkie.

She had been rid­ing on the suc­cesses of her 1995 al­bum, Jagged Lit­tle Pill, from which many of her best known hits were re­leased.

Fast for­ward two decades and Jagged Lit­tle Pill has been made into a mu­si­cal. The star last re­leased a full al­bum in 2012, and was in­stead spend­ing more time on pod­cast­ing. The 43-year-old was re­leas­ing a monthly pod­cast, Con­ver­sa­tion with Ala­nis Moris­sette.

Moris­sette was also work­ing on a Broad­way mu­si­cal adap­ta­tion of Jagged Lit­tle Pill, due ot be re­leased in May.

Tick­ets for any of the three dates were priced from $99 each. Chil­dren would also be given free en­trance with adults. Tick­ets for the con­certs went on sale on Thurs­day, via a pre­sale, Green­stone En­ter­tain­ment CEO Amanda Calvert said.
