The issue of coastal erosion is certainly a topic that is gathering momentum in our communities.
That’s not surprising given our district boasts some 400km of coastline.
As Teresa reports on P1, a report highlights the risks lowlying small towns in the Hauraki and Thames-Coromandel districts are facing from rising sea levels.
Thames Coromandel District Council is currently developing coastal management strategy, and is holding workshops throughout the district this month.
A number have been held but there’s still time to get to a few more, and learn more about an issue that could affect thousands.
There’s tow today, 10am-1pm and 3pm-6pm at the Whitianga Town Hall; October 17, 10am-1pm, at the Whangamata Town Hall; October 18, 10am-1pm, and the Tairua Hall, and 3pm- 6pm at the Hahei Fire Station.
