Thames Val­ley Hockey U15 Boys can be proud of their sil­ver medals earned at the Hockey New Zealand U15 Na­tional Cham­pi­onships held in In­ver­cargill.

Beat­ing South Can­ter­bury in the semi-fi­nals, where the win­ning goal was scored in the last few min­utes of the game, they faced Whanganui, who beat Auck­land 2-0, in the fi­nals.

Both teams were un­beaten in pool play which made for a tightly con­tested game with no field goals scored.

Whanganui were awarded two penalty cor­ners in the sec­ond half which they man­aged to con­verted into goals with a fi­nal score of 2-0 to Wan­ganui.

Val­ley achieved top goal scorer sta­tus with Taran Ainsworth at the head the goal scorer table for the tour­na­ment.

An out­stand­ing re­sult for the team dur­ing a tour­na­ment which in­cluded tra­di­tional hockey mights of Can­ter­bury, Welling­ton and Auck­land.

The Thames Val­ley Hockey U15 Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Team 2017 were Jake Har­ris, Liam Gor­don, Jack Jewell, Ma­son Law, Ma­son Mil­lar, Noah Gray, Taran Ainsworth, Con­nor Davis, Re­demp­tion Tai, Mitchell Wil­liams, Tom Leonard, Luke Hill, Sam Broad­bent, Ai­den Har­ri­son and Kyle Whit­taker.

The team was coached by Ben Herkt and Karl Davis and man­aged by An­dria Gor­don with as­sis­tant man­ager Lau­rence Jewell. Trav­el­ling Um­pire was Robert Gor­don.
