A month to get into the garden

Havelock North Village Press - - News - BY GILLIAN THRUM Green Door Garden & Gifts

This week I had a few errands to do, which included going home, library books, buying lunch, drop my Mum down for a checkup (all good) and back to work with her for lunch.

Where else could you do all this in under 40mins? We are so lucky to live here with all the amenities we have and stunning weather — no wonder I have never left! Travel, but always return.

The gardens in the Village are bursting into life all around us — flowers and foliage are to the fore and the spring gardeners are rushing in to fill their revamped vege patches with fresh seedlings.

Nothing beats growing your own — and really it is so simple. Everyone should have this skill — in fact, if everyone did have this skill the population would be a lot fitter, more healthy and as digging in the soil makes me happy — I’m sure everyone would be a lot happier too. It’s such a rewarding experience.
