House affordability gap

Hawke's Bay Today - - NATION -

There’s a $300,000 price difference between what Kiwis think an affordable house should cost, and the actual average price nationwide. And the gulf between the two is almost $600,000 in Auckland. Horizons Research has found Kiwis expect an affordable house to cost $375,000 but an average house nationwide would set you back $675,000. Aucklanders have the highest expectation of affordability — nearly $470,000 — but this is a lot less than the Government’s $650,000 affordable KiwiBuild house.
