Hospital gas alert

Residents of Napier retirement facility's hospital were moved temporarily on Sunday afternoon as firefighters and gas company staff investigated a suspected gas leak. A senior fire officer praised staff of the Napier District Masonic Trust's Elmwood House for their handling of the incident. Trust general manager Graeme Taylor said the hospital part of the facility has 14 residents. They were moved to a safer area while the situation was investigated, but no leak was found.
