$5000 A HEAD CHARITY DINNER

-

Kiwi entrepreneur Jake Millar is showing that he is as good at raising money for charity as he is at creating a global business digital platform.

In May the now 22-year-old raised $1.2 million for his Unfiltered education platform, which he created two years ago and is currently launching in the US. Investors in the group include Rob Fyfe and his fiancée

Sara Tetro, Kevin Roberts and Diane Foreman.

Making his mark interviewing some of NZ’s biggest business leaders, Millar has completed more than 100 Game Changer Series interviews, including with Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson, Tesla co-founder Ian Wright and General Motors’ President Dan Ammann.

Millar made a commitment to raise $100,000 to help keep Lifeline services strong by holding four dinner parties in NZ over the next year, with the first one next weekend at Mahoenui Mansion (The Toy Mansion) at his good friend Zuru owner Nick

Mowbray’s house. He is more than half way to his target, having already raised $56,000 for the cause.

“When I learned that New Zealand had the highest youth suicide rate in the OECD, I knew I had to do my part in bringing these terrible statistics down. I felt I could raise substantial funds through bringing together Kiwis passionate about the cause ... we’ve been simply overwhelmed by the huge support, and can’t wait for an amazing night of incredible company, food and drink with some of the top business and sporting leaders in the country, all for a cause that needs urgent attention.” Miller told Spy.

The dinner is $5000 a head and

guests are promised a night of fantastic networking in luxurious surroundings with food by Ben Bayly of The Grove and wines supplied by Villa Maria. Sir George and Lady Gail Fistonich are guests, along with some of the VIPs Miller could name, such as shoe designer Kathryn Wilson, Annette

Presley and celebrity dentist Dr Scott Waghorn. He insisted there was still room for more, for tickets email hello@jakemillar.com With three more dinners to go, the next ones may have attendees from a few of Miller’s overseas big names. Rich Lister Peter Huljich is hosting the next fundraising event in February, which is a VIP lunch and wine tasting experience on Waiheke Island, sponsored by Heletranz and Tantalus Estate.
