Oprah Winfrey is the latest celeb to get on board with the cruise lifestyle, creating a series of personal growth-style itineraries and experiences for Holland America. Last weekend she officially became the godmother of the cruise line’s newest ship, the 2666-passenger Nieuw Statendam, at a ceremony in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Oprah fans were even given the chance to sail with the star leading up to the event, during a threeday Girls’ Getaway cruise in the Bahamas. The Nieuw Statendam will continue to sail to the Caribbean from Miami for the rest of the Northern Hemisphere winter, before moving up to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean.
