Struggle to meet needs
The Government is putting $10,000 extra into Marlborough budgeting services to alleviate pressure from increasing demand.
Kaikoura electorate MP Colin King said Marlborough budgeting services Te Tai O Marokura Charitable Trust and Te Whare Putea would both get $3000, and Marlborough Family Budgeting Service would get $4000.
The grants are part of a national oneoff boost of $589,000 being delivered to 155 budgeting services organisations.
Mr King said the funding boost was positive news.
Budgeting services played a vital role in the electorate, helping families take control of their finances.
The Government spent $8.9 million a year on budgeting services to encourage people to take responsibility for their finances.
