Drains to cut ruts
Drainage work on Killarney St was just one of many road works under way on Kaikoura streets last week.
Council engineer Gerry Essenberg said the work is needed because of continued road rutting caused by the area’s high water table.
He said the work would also allow council to install new sewage lines to the top of Killarney St and eventually to the Innovative Waste site.
Lights up: Work to install drainage to this busy section of roadway will prevent further ruts forming in the street.
