Crafts on show
Tawa Arts & Crafts Society is hosting a crafts show at the Tawa Community Centre this Saturday.
About 20 stallholders are taking part, selling a variety of homemade items including leather work, teddy bears, jewellery, knitting, patchwork, bob and lace, ceramics, gift cards, paintings and wood turned items. There will also be demonstrations and workshops.
Tawa Arts & Crafts Society began in 1969, borne out of an art class at Tawa College, says president Aileen Wood.
‘‘People got together and decided to hold an exhibition and it started from there,’’ she says.
It has about 20 members. However, recent interest in crafts has attracted some new blood and more crafters are welcome.
The craft show is on from 9am till 4pm, October 9. For more information contact Aileen Wood, 232 6024.
