Make Christmas about family not finances
Some of us are prepared – we have a Christmas Club account – at a supermarket or at a bank.
Some of us are closing our eyes hoping the day won’t come – come on, be real – we all know that it is on the same date every year, but for some reason it always takes us by surprise.
Don’t worry, we still have time to get organised to make our lives a bit easier and to prevent that running around at the last minute, or not being able to pay the rent or the car payment. Some ideas:
Open a Christmas Club account or buy vouchers from the supermarket.
Start saving, even if it is $10 a week, in 16 weeks you will have $160 saved.
Find out what the children would like – make a list.
Make presents – if you can sew/ build, make something for your children.
Lots of specials on at the moment – put something on layby, pay it off and do it again – before you know it, you will have presents all ready for the day.
Plan where you are going and who will be with you on the day. A barbecue lunch with family at home? The big Christmas lunch with turkey, ham and all the trimmings?
If you are having a family get together, get other family members to bring along some of the nibbles or food.
Make this year a stress-free Christmas, giving you time to enjoy the children, to spend time with loved ones, and not to be stuck in the kitchen or worrying about the rent or car payment that you missed.
