All the same

Editor,

The front page story [ KMN, October 8] asks why people aren’t voting in the Porirua City Council elections.

Let me tell you why I didn’t vote in this year’s local government elections. Relatively new to the area, I sat down to peruse the candidate booklet, and my eyes soon glazed over.

Every single candidate is the same! They want to ‘‘work to improve the community’’. They want to ‘‘control’’ rates rises (but none of them had a concrete plan to do this). They want to make Porirua ‘‘a vibrant place’’. They will ‘‘support local businesses’’.
