Recycling riddle

Kapi-Mana News - - OPINION -

Editor,

When I retrieved my recycling bin I found a notice attached to the bin, along with most bins on the street, asking for us to sort our recycling into plastic bags.

Surely the whole point of recycling is to reduce the use of plastic bags, and we do, by using our cloth-type shopping bags so we don’t have plastic shopping bags to sort our waste into.

Are Allbrite advocating we go out and ditch our cloth-type shopping bags or, heaven forbid, buy plastic bags just so we can accommodate their request?

If it is such a big deal then perhaps they should supply bins with compartments in them.

Or maybe recycling could be done properly which would mean the actual recycling of the soft plastic bags? - LINDA SCOTT,

Papakowhai.
