School gears for gala

Cuddly cats, tenderhearted teddies and other fleecy friends will be looking for a home at this Saturday’s Paremata School gala.

There will be a heap of soft toys for sale and other children’s second-hand toys and clothing when the gala kicks off at 11am.

All money raised will go towards outdoor furniture and landscaping to create a shaded courtyard area, following the removal of two big trees, says gala coordinator Belle Hanrahan. It will also help fund new sports equipment.

‘‘We always receive so much support from the local community and it’s great for us to be able to fund a few extras for the school. Last year the gala made it possible for us to create a new hard court area for the children to play on and it’s been very popular.’’

The Beat Girls are back to headline the gala, and also returning is the Zippity Zoo Mobile Farm Petting Zoo. A food hall will offer a wide range of culinary delights.

The gala will run until 3pm. For more information contact Paremata School office on 233 1339.
