Lucky wins at Porirua shops
New World supermarkets in Porirua have proven to be lucky places to shop, with two major prizes going to local residents.
Jenny Shaw has thousands of reasons to raise her wine glass after winning a $10,000 travel voucher from purchasing a bottle of her favourite syrah from Porirua New World.
The Pauatahanui resident said she could not believe her luck.
‘‘This is the first time I’ve ever won anything . . . [The wine] was on special and I just decided to enter the competition online when I saw the neck tag.
‘‘ It’s not something I would usually do.’’
A recently-planned trip to Sydney had been put off because she and her husband could not afford it, Ms Shaw said – it’s certainly back on the agenda now.
Sydney will be the first stop on the couple’s big adventure, to visit an exchange student they took in years ago working with Plimmerton Rotary Club.
Next year they would go to Japan to climb Mt Fujiyama, she said.
The promotion was run by Mission Estate Winery through New World stores nationwide.
Meanwhile, New World Paremata made Val Rodrigo’s year last week when she won a trip for two to Singapore to watch the World Netball Championship final in July, 2011, in the store’s Shop, Scratch & Score promotion. Ms Rodrigo said she was ‘‘over the moon’’ with her prize.
She plans to take her husband along on the trip.
