This year’s Special Children’s Christmas Party at Te Rauparaha Arena was great fun for children with special needs.

Food and fun was there for every child and parent.

The annual party is a way to celebrate Christmas for children who are suffering from life-threatening illness, physical and intellectual impairment, domestic violence or living in underprivileged circumstances.

Burgers, lollies, drinks, fruit and heaps more was there to satisfy their appetites, and clowns, music and dance competitions were among the activities to ignite their festive spirit.

The children really enjoy it every year and they keep coming back to have more fun.

Heaps of volunteers come each year to help setting up and cleaning up. Just telling the children they look great or you like their face paint, makes them really happy.

For me, as a volunteer, it was great fun and I enjoyed knowing that I had made other children, who may not get a fun Christmas with their families, feel like they do.
