Misleading on costs
My thanks to Kapi-Mana News for publishing my letter [January 25] under the heading Yet More Costs, regarding council bylaw part 25 for on-site waste water systems.
In his response, David Rolfe is somewhat economical with the facts since he fails to mention that the registration fee of $90 has to be paid every time the septic tank is pumped out (at a cost of $450) and that a warrant of fitness has to be obtained from an ‘‘approved person’’ at a cost of $200 to $1000.
His estimated annual cost of $10 to $15 is misleading in the extreme.
Fascinating, is it not, that prior to my letter, an obligatory threeyear pump-out period was to apply, with an unspecified degree of flexibility for longer periods at council discretion.
