Don’t trash lagoon

Kapi-Mana News - - OPINION -

Why would the Porirua City Council allow our most beautiful, tranquil, widely-used public outdoor leisure amenity to be trashed?

The proposals by Aquacom to erect towers around Aotea Lagoon for a wakeboard park are an insult to the many locals who are at the lagoon for a quiet walk or jog every morning and the hundreds who visit at the weekend to enjoy this unspoiled environment with their families, young and old.

Where will the ducks go when the motors are roaring and the small percentage keen or able to take part in this noisy activity decide they want to have a bit of fun at the expense of others?

The towers will not just be put up when the activity is running but will be a full-time blot on the landscape of the lagoon.
