Special day for families
Plunket will celebrate the good weather with families and friends in Porirua next week.
The Wellington-Wairarapa area of Plunket is holding its first Family Fun Festival at Aotea Lagoon on February 12.
‘‘Plunket recognises that family is the heart of our community and time together is so important,’’ says spokeswoman Margaret Bourke.
‘‘We all have busy lives and before things start to get too hectic, we would like to provide a chance for families to gather and enjoy each other’s company. This will be a timely opportunity for us to share the important news of the new Plunket Centre which is scheduled to be built in Cannons Creek this year.
‘‘We are really excited as this centre will offer a wide range of services to families in the community – services that are vital to the health, wellbeing and safety of our children.’’
Bouncy castles, the Waitangirua Lions train, a variety of musical entertainment from local groups, egg and spoon races, an activity circuit and face-painters will be on hand, while a sausage sizzle and ice creams should keep the tummies from rumbling.
Families are encouraged to bring their picnic blankets and settle in for a relaxing and entertaining time. The festival day will run on the lagoon lawns, from 10am till 1pm.
In the event of poor weather leading to postponement, the family day will be held at the lagoon on February 19.
