Just take the bus

Kapi-Mana News - - OPINION -

I hear many complaints about the trains often being late or not coming at all and then having to wait while replacement buses are arranged and then people not being able to get on.

Few people seem to realise if you use the train between central and Porirua stations the direct bus (60) from Courtenay Pl to Porirua Station (via Johnsonville and Tawa) is a good alternative – especially in the evening.

I have to say I have found the bus service comfortable, very reliable and taking the same time if boarding at the Courtenay terminal or Manners Mall as walking to central station and boarding the train.

I also appreciate the free transfer to another bus from Porirua Station to my home.

By using the train we have to pay extra fares if we use the buses to and from the Central and Porirua stations, and that is where savings are made. Stuart McLaren,
