Pupils all ready for annual beach triathlon

Kapi-Mana News - - EDUCATION -

Titahi Bay School will host its third annual triathlon next Saturday.

It is the school’s fundraiser for the year.

The races start at Titahi Bay Beach at 9am for the new entrants/year 1 group, and will be followed by year 2 and the rest of the school in ascending order.

Children in the triathlon will run, cycle and then swim ( or wade) in their individual year groups, with the length of each discipline adjusted to the age of the year group.

‘‘We are very thankful for the support of our local surf club,’’ said Robyn Fountain, parent of year 2 twins and an enthusiastic supporter of the school.

‘‘We are extremely blessed with having such a great beach and flat surrounding area.

‘‘And, just like last year, the local businesses have been behind us 100 per cent.

‘‘Their generosity is outstanding and it makes us proud to be part of such a fantastic community.’’

The event will be near the Toms Rd entrance to the beach.

The community is encouraged to get along and join in on the fun, raffles and food, and to cheer the children on.

A course map will be posted on the surf club outdoor noticeboard.

Funds raised will purchase staging for the school hall.

Beach action: The annual triathlon is always a big day for Titahi Bay School.
