BNZ helps home
Longview Home in Tawa will host BNZ’s Closed For Good volunteer initiative next month.
About six staff members from the Tawa branch of BNZ will spend Wednesday, March 9 at the rest home, cleaning windows or putting in garden edgingaround Longview’s A and B wings.
Longview recreation officer Marlene Bowles, who applied to the Closed for Good website on behalf of the home, said both projects were suggested by residents at a meeting.
‘‘Our maintenance man doesn’t have the time to clean all our external windows, some of which are quite high up,’’ she said. ‘‘We’ve also got a lot of red bricks, which the residents thought would look nice lining the garden beds.’’
Closed for Good Day involves all BNZ branches shutting up so staff can help the community out.
