You’ve seen them on television, now see them stand up to a local crowd.
Nick Rado and James Nokise have pledged to bring wellknown comedians to the Monteith’s Bar in Paremata every month for the next year – and first up is Raybon Kan.
Rado says: ‘‘We feel that pushing new talent, plus offering Mana residents a chance to see top quality ‘As seen on TV’ comedians at competitivelypriced shows is always going to attract a good response from comedians and the public alike.’’
The two comics will organise the shows under the moniker of International Stand-Up. Rado, who grew up in Titahi Bay and is nominated for a 2011 Billy T Award, has produced comedy shows for fringe festivals in England and Scotland.
Kan will headline tomorrow night’s show. He has been a familiar face on the Kiwi stand-up circuit for many years and wrote the bestselling book An Asian at my Table. The former lawyer has performed internationally at comedy festivals including Edinburgh and Montreal.
The bill will also feature Rado, James Nokise (from TV2’s Comedy Gala) and Cameron Murray.
Comedy @ Monteith’s Bar, 8.30pm, tomorrow (doors open at 8pm). Tickets are $15 on the door or $12 pre-sale.
Tickets are available from The Monteith’s Bar, 105 Mana Esplanade.
