Porirua Vikings went to the enemy’s headquarters and came away with a massive win on Saturday in club rugby league action.

It has been a season of ups and downs but lately they have been unstoppable, racking up 80-point wins. Although their 22-18 win over Wainuiomata at Wise Park was as tough as it gets with the forwards seeing much more work than the backs, it was likely to be more satisfying.

It took a late try to grab the win, with the home side not helping their cause by having a man sinbinned as the clock was running down.

Vikings fullback Johnny Teleaga continues to shine, with his moment of brilliance to set up Caine Kelopa the stand-out moment in a match played in heavy conditions.

The result puts the Vikings top of the table on 14 points, with Wainui one point back.

St George, meanwhile, lost the battle of the cellardwellers, 26-20, to Upper Hutt.

In the reserve grade, the Vikings stay top after defeating Wainui 48-10. St George are third following their 54-0 drubbing of Upper Hutt.
