Fictional fantasy day

Tawa School held a celebration of all things bookish on June 3.

Students were encouraged to dress up for a parade as a character from a book – Captain Underpants was joined by princesses, scarecrows, and pirates – and a treasure hunt was held.

‘‘We ran events all week; the teachers read a story to different classes once a day and there was a show on Wednesday,’’ school librarian Angela Marsden said.

‘‘The parade went down really well. There was a lot of original thought that went into the costumes, and the teachers got into it as well.’’

Costume winners: Best costume prizes at Tawa School’s parade held at the culmination of Book Week went to, from left, Isaac Parker as Zac Power, Cayden Teau as Captain Underpants and Nathaniel Cottle as Scarecrow.
