Ohariu-based Labour List MP Charles Chauvel is issuing a survey to every person on the Ohariu electorate roll, to see if people are finding life tough.

‘‘Last month I conducted a survey at supermarkets, malls and households about the rising cost of living. The results of that survey were sobering and confirmed my feelings that, like others across New Zealand, people in the [Wellington] northern suburbs are feeling the bite of rising prices,’’ he said.

Mr Chauvel says he wants to hear about other challenges people and families are facing.

‘‘This year’s New Zealand census was postponed after the Christchurch earthquake in February. It will now be held in 2013. This census is an opportunity for me to receive information that should help me do my job better as a Member of Parliament’’.
