Tessa Balan and Pania Mitchell are inviting other Porirua mums to put their best breast forward to raise support for breastfeeding.
The seventh annual Big Latch On will take place on Friday, August 5, and the women encourage breastfeeding mums to come along and take part in an attempt on last year’s record for the most mums feeding simultaneously.
The record was broken last year, with more than 1400 mums feeding at more than 134 venues throughout the country.
Porirua mums can choose between the Fanau Centre in Cannons Creek, and Kaizen Cafe in Pataka.
‘‘We’re trying to normalise breast feeding as the thing you do, putting it back out there and . . . letting people talk about it more,’’ Ms Mitchell said. ‘‘It’s social and it’s a little bit of a celebration.’’
To register, call 973 6194.
Coffee with milk: Tessa Balan, left, and Pania Mitchell at Kaizen cafe in Porirua, one of the venues for the 2011 Big Latch On. Busy feeding are Josephine, nine months, and Manu, three months.
