Floral art club turns 21
Whitby Floral Art Club celebrated its 21st birthday in style recently, with more than 100 people attending a special presentation.
Guest demonstrator for the afternoon was Heather Hammond, past president of the Floral Art Society of NZ. She put together 12 designs, sharing her knowledge and giving tips as she worked, which drew admiration from everyone in attendance.
People came from as far away as Bulls and Palmerston North for the occasion.
‘‘We were honoured to have such an auspicious person visit us,’’ Whitby Floral Art Club president Dorothy Gibbs said.
The club had 36 members and ‘‘ continue to be inspired to compete with creative designs’’ each club day, she said. They meet on the last Monday of every month at Whitby Bowling Club from 12.45pm.
The next club day is July 25 and will be featuring ‘‘Greens are best’’ designs.
For more information phone Dorothy Gibbs on 233 8117.
