Porirua’s ‘‘ welcome to’’ billboards have been changed again, this time showing off some of the city’s successful Northern United rugby players.

‘‘ We’re all proud of the triumphs Norths have accomplished during the years, both in our regional rugby club competition and for the individual players who have gone on to represent New Zealand playing for the Black Ferns and the All Blacks,’’ says Barbara Bercic, Porirua City Council’s communications and marketing manager.

‘‘Porirua is a rugby-supporting city and this series of billboards reflects that. Again, they feature real Porirua people – energetic and youthful.

‘‘ And during Rugby World Cup 2011 visitors to the city or passing through will be able to see what a welcoming, rugbyloving city we are.’’

The new billboards will remain in place until after Rugby World Cup 2011 is over, when an updated set of signs will go on show.
