went looking for them but after 10 minutes we had not heard a thing. After about half an hour of looking we found that both dogs had made their way up the walkway to a house and they had killed several chickens. As a conscientious dog owner this is a truly awful thing to have to go through.

Both dogs are currently in the pound and we don’t know what will happen to them. While I am an advocate of allowing dogs to use the walkway I would never have given my dog the opportunity to get into this situation if I had known that this would be the outcome.

I have talked to the owner of the chickens and sadly this is not the first time this has happened. If anything can be gained from this it is that other dog owners are made aware that there are houses along the walkway, and the beach, that have poultry and they must ensure their dogs don’t pose a threat to them or they could end up in our position, and they don’t want that.
