The driver of a large truck-andtrailer that overturned near Paremata roundabout last week escaped unhurt and with no damage to any other vehicles.

The unit, which weighed about 40 tonnes, tipped on to an empty scrub berm to its left as it exited the roundabout travelling north in the outside lane at 7.40am on Tuesday.

Acting Kapiti-Mana police area commander Eric Tibbott says no other vehicles were involved in the crash and no-one was hurt, though the driver was understandably shaken.

It was fortunate that when the truck tipped it landed in an unused spot clear of both the road and nearby footpath, he said.

A crane was later used to lift the truck upright.
