Getting election savvy
If you are new to New Zealand and unsure about how to vote in the November election, get along to a free talk in Porirua this month.
People can learn about the New Zealand electoral system and the November elections and referendum on Thursday, August 18, at the Whitireia Community Polytechnic Lecture Theatre. The presenters are registrar of electors Toni Weir and Mana Electorate returning officer Brendan Wilson.
They will discuss enrolling, the New Zealand voting system, the referendum in relation to the voting system, and what the other options are if the outcome of the referendum is to change from the MMP voting system.
The session runs from 9.30am until 10.30am. The presenters will use big screens to aid understanding, if English is your second language.
