Aotea College student Jacob Rameka has been making a name for himself at indoor bowls.

He recently won the Wellington title and now had his sights set on the nationals at the North Wellington Indoor Bowls Club’s Onepoto clubrooms this Saturday.

‘‘If I hit a good shot, I like screaming and I jump up and down. I yell every time I make a good shot.’’

After cleaning up in the Wellington championships – he won each of his matches easily – adding a national title would see another for the trophy cabinet of his school. He says it is a sport that many young people are playing now, with memberships at the Porirua Club soaring.

Rameka is a dab hand at several other sports, like rugby league, tennis and hockey.
