A trail of destruction
A man escaped major injury when he lost control of his car and ploughed through four neighbouring front gardens in Warspite Ave last week.
The crash happened about 8.30pm on August 17.
The 38-year-old driver was taken away from the scene by ambulance staff, but suffered only minor injuries, Porirua con- stable Kathryn Groube said.
She said alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which was still under investigation.
Fatigue or a medical episode could have caused the crash, she said.
There were no passengers in the car.
Resident John Lucas says he heard a crash from his lounge and found that the car had damaged fences and trees which separated his neighbours’ homes.
The car stopped its trail of destruction after reaching nearby Beauzami Cres.
Mr Lucas’ house was the only one damaged in the incident. His lounge wall was destroyed on the outside, and an interior wall was pushed into the room.
It was lucky that a power main in the wall was not affected by the crash, Mr Lucas said.
